The aim of this unit is to provide learners with knowledge, understanding and skills required to work with children.  Within this unit students will develop their knowledge and skills in the context of the role of the early years practitioner in relation to the provision for cognitive development for children from birth to 7 years; the role of the early years practitioner in relation to provision for speech; the role of the early years practitioner in relation to provision for physical development for children from birth to 7 years.  This unit will also cover holistic child development.  Throughout this unit the role of the early years practitioner in relation to the health and well-being, along with how to keep children safe in an early years setting; provide an enabling play environment and develop a knowledge and skills in relation to observation, assessment and planning will be important.

This qualification prepares students to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
  Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that students will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or access Higher Education.
 In response to the Department for Education and National College for Teaching and Leadership Policy, More Great Childcare, CACHE have built this qualification to meet the criteria required for those wishing to become Early Years Educators. 
In order to achieve the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) students must hold a GCSE in Maths and English Language at grade C or above; successfully complete 14 mandatory units and 750 placement hours.  Students must also complete an Effective Practice Study Task and one Extended Assessment Task both of which are externally set and externally marked.
