Course Units: The Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is a qualification that provides students with the transition from general education to specialist art and design education. This supports students to make an informed decision about applying and progressing to Higher Education or seeking employment within a related industry. The course is made up of three mandatory units. All units must be completed to achieve and be awarded the qualification.
The three mandatory units are as follows: Unit 01: Diagnostic Investigation into creative practice Unit 02: Developing specialist practice Unit 03: Consolidating practice
Course Curriculum:
The course curriculum has been designed to inspire and motivate you to learn through discovery,
experimentation and exploration and to give your confidence to thrive in a new academic environment in
the UK. The course is led by two experienced and knowledgeable staff who are of postgraduate ‘Masters’
Level and who have experience in International and transitional learning at Further and Higher Education.
The course is further supported by additional specialist staff who will deliver scheduled teaching sessions
through a balance of workshops, lectures, seminars and tutorials. This will be in conjunction to your own independent studio practice and independent learning. Alongside an
introduction to specialist skills, students will develop an individual approach to research, problem-finding
and problem-solving and reflective practice. Students will build an exploratory outlook into a wide range of
contexts and develop confidence in discussing and presenting their work in both formal and
informal settings, in large and small groups.
