The course is aimed to provied learners with understanding of the principles of animal health and how these can be applied to practical animal care.

The unit aims to help learners acquire knowledge and skills of undertaking an investigative project. Research projects are to be carried out initially on 3 topics and later narrowed down into 1 topic which will be investigated into greater detail by producing a breakdown of resources required, an action plan, risk assessment and information obtained from books, internet, questionnaire and other sources.

This unit examines the behaviour of animals. It begins by reviewing normal and abnormal behaviours before looking at methods of recording behaviour in wild and captive  animals. The effect of environment and communication on animal behaviour is also studied.

An in depth look into the realm of Aquatics from the Origin of Aquatic organisms to their care requirements in captivity. Covering the biological processes in the wild and in aquaria.
